Usually, no. Purchases made with Robux are generally final, so if you bought the wrong item or game pass, Roblox normally won’t give the Robux back. There are a few exceptions though: charges you did not make (like a hack), items that never arrived because of an error, and items removed by moderation, which are often refunded automatically. For real-money purchases through Apple or Google, you ask those stores for a Robux refund instead.
So it depends on what went wrong. Here’s how to figure out which case you are in, and what to actually do.
Two kinds of purchases, two kinds of refunds
This part confuses a lot of people, so let’s split it up.
| What you bought | Paid with | Who handles refunds |
|---|---|---|
| Avatar items, game passes, developer products | Robux | Roblox Support (only in special cases) |
| Robux or Roblox Plus in the iPhone or iPad app | Real money | Apple |
| Robux or Roblox Plus in the Android app | Real money | Google Play |
| Robux on the Roblox website | Real money | Roblox Support, Billing & Payments |
If you spent Robux inside a game, that is the first row. If money left your bank or card, it is one of the other rows.
When Roblox may give your Robux back
Roblox looks at each case, but these are the situations where a refund is realistic:
- Unauthorized purchases. Someone hacked your account and spent your Robux, or a charge appeared that you did not make.
- Item not delivered. You paid, the Robux left your balance, but the item or game pass never showed up because of an error.
- Items removed by moderation. If Roblox takes down an item you bought for breaking the rules, you are often refunded automatically. Check your balance before contacting anyone.
Here’s the catch. “I clicked the wrong thing” or “I changed my mind” usually does not count. It is worth asking politely once, but don’t expect much.
How to ask Roblox Support for a refund
- Go to roblox.com/support, or start from the Roblox Help Center.
- Fill in your username, email, and device.
- Pick Billing & Payments as the category.
- Explain what happened in a few clear sentences: what you bought, when, how many Robux, and what went wrong.
- Add proof if you have it, like screenshots of your transaction history or receipts.
- Submit once and wait for the email reply.
Act fast. Roblox says there is a window of about 30 days to ask for help with lost items or currency, so ideally report within that time. You can check what you spent under your account’s transaction history, which helps you give exact details.
Refunds for real-money purchases on phones
If you bought Robux inside the Roblox app on an iPhone or Android phone, the money went through the app store. Roblox can’t refund it directly.
- iPhone and iPad: Use Apple’s purchase problem reporting through your Apple account and request a refund for the purchase.
- Android: Request a refund through your Google Play order history.
Each store has its own rules and time limits, and they decide case by case. Be honest about what happened, especially if a child made the purchase without permission.
Small side note. Buying Robux inside the mobile app gives fewer Robux per dollar anyway, since app stores take a cut. Roblox says buying on the website or with a gift card gives up to 25% more. More on that in the cheapest way to buy Robux. Prices vary by country.
For parents: stop surprise spending
A lot of “wrong purchase” stories are really a kid tapping buy a few too many times. Roblox has parental controls that help:
- Spending limits to cap how much can be spent each month.
- Spending notifications so you get an alert when money is spent.
- App store controls like Apple’s Ask to Buy or Google Play purchase approvals.
Setting these up takes ten minutes and saves a lot of arguments later. Also turn on 2-Step Verification so nobody else can spend from the account: here’s how.
Red flags: refund scams
Scammers love people who just lost Robux. Watch for these:
- Someone in chat or Discord says they work for Roblox and can refund you. They don’t. Real support replies by email through official channels.
- A website promises to “recover lost Robux” if you log in or pay a fee.
- Anyone asks for your password, 2SV code, or browser cookie.
- “Free Robux” generators that claim to replace what you lost. These are always scams. See how to spot a free Robux scam.
FAQ
Can I get a Robux refund for a game pass I bought by mistake?
Usually not. Game pass purchases with Robux are generally final. You can still ask Roblox Support, but a refund is unlikely unless there was an error or the purchase was unauthorized.
My Robux was spent by a hacker. What now?
Secure the account first: change your password, log out all other sessions, and turn on 2SV. Then contact Roblox Support under Billing & Payments and explain it was unauthorized. Report it quickly.
Can I return a Roblox item and get Robux back?
There is no return button for normal items. Some limited items can be resold by eligible users, but that is a sale, not a refund.
How long do refunds take?
It varies. Automatic moderation refunds can show up fairly quickly. Support cases and app store refunds depend on their review.
The short version
Robux purchases are mostly final. You have a real shot only if the purchase was unauthorized, the item never arrived, or moderation removed it. For money spent in the iOS or Android app, go to Apple or Google. Report fast, give clear details, and never trust anyone in chat promising to get your Robux back.
